Our mission is to nurture and support the growth of Muslims through a united community, faith, and education. Our services include Shahadah, Nikah, as well as youth and marriage counseling.

Imam Salem brings profound Islamic scholarship and a compassionate heart to Masjid Al-Siddiq. Dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth of our community, he leads daily prayers, delivers inspiring Friday Khutbahs, and provides invaluable guidance to families and youth alike.
For more than 35 years, Sheikh Salem Ammar has devoted his life to the service of Islam, earning the respect and admiration of Muslim communities throughout Northern California as a distinguished imam, educator, counselor, and public speaker. His unwavering commitment to teaching, mentoring, and guiding others has left a lasting impact on countless individuals and families.
Throughout his distinguished career, Sheikh Ammar has served in numerous leadership roles within the Muslim community. He served as the Imam of Fulton Masjid for four and a half years, providing spiritual leadership, delivering inspiring sermons, and nurturing the religious growth of the congregation. Earlier in his journey, he delivered the Friday Jumu’ah khutbah at the Modesto Islamic Center from 1991 to 1992. He was also a regular lecturer and Friday khatib at the Student Mosque in Stockton for nearly five years, where he additionally served as Co-Director. At Masjid Annur in Sacramento, he was entrusted with leading the Da’wah Department for several years while delivering numerous lectures and Friday sermons that inspired, educated, and strengthened the community.
Known for his engaging teaching style and compassionate character, Sheikh Ammar has dedicated his life to strengthening faith, preserving Islamic values, and fostering unity within the Muslim community. His thoughtful approach to education and counseling has made him a trusted source of guidance for individuals and families alike. In addition to delivering sermons and educational programs, he provides marriage counseling, family guidance, and officiates Islamic marriage (Nikah) ceremonies with wisdom, sincerity, and care.
Expanding his service beyond the walls of the masjid, Sheikh Ammar faithfully served for sixteen years as a Muslim Chaplain with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Throughout his chaplaincy, he ministered to incarcerated individuals in several California state prisons, offering spiritual guidance, religious education, counseling, and hope to those seeking a path toward personal transformation. His work exemplified the Islamic principles of mercy, compassion, dignity, and redemption before retiring from public service.
Sheikh Ammar is also the author of High Desert Prison: A Memoir of a State Chaplain, a compelling account of his years serving within California’s prison system. Through personal experiences and reflections, the memoir offers readers a unique perspective on the transformative power of faith, resilience, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal.
Continuing his lifelong mission of service, Sheikh Salem Ammar helped establish and open Masjid Al-Siddiq in January 2026. As its founding Imam, he has dedicated himself to building a masjid rooted in the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah while fostering an environment of faith, knowledge, compassion, and unity. Through his leadership, he continues to guide the congregation in worship, teach Islamic sciences, mentor youth, counsel individuals and families, and help cultivate a welcoming community where Muslims of every generation can grow spiritually and strengthen their relationship with Allah.
Today, Sheikh Salem Ammar remains steadfast in his commitment to serving Allah and His creation. His life’s work reflects a legacy of sincere leadership, tireless service, and unwavering devotion to the Muslim community. Through his humility, compassion, and dedication, he continues to inspire hearts, strengthen families, and leave an enduring legacy that, by the will of Allah, will benefit generations to come.
